Who We Are

Huski Home is a family-run company that put sustainability at the top of their priority list. By creating eco-friendly, reusable homewares from natural waste. Together, we can create a renewable future!

Meet our family

We’re Lisa and Luke, and together we created Huski Home. We want to contribute to the collective movement towards a sustainable future by creating products that will eliminate the need for existing and single-use plastics. We believe that everyone has the power to create a brighter future and through small changes in our everyday lives, we can see a renewable world in our lifetime.

Huski Home was inspired by our son Leo, who was appointed to be an eco-warrior at school. He started to question us on changes we could make at home to become more sustainable and reduce waste. This led us to research and develop products that could make a real difference. In the UK alone, we use 7 million disposable coffee cups every day, amounting to around 2.5 billion every year, of which 182 million ends up on our streets and in our oceans. Following our initial research, we decided to develop our merchandise from bi-products as we felt these were under utilised and could solve an issue without creating a new one, or exhausting existing resources.

Our Journey - Featured on 'NOW THIS'

Creating a sustainable material

Our travel cups are unique because they are created by recycling rice husks. Why rice husks? Great question! Rice is harvested in mass quantities throughout the world.  When processed, the sheer volume of husks causes issues as how to properly dispose of it as rice husks, if not ethically discarded, can be a biohazard.

This is why we've created a way to recycle rice husks into a durable, reusable, non-toxic material.  We use this material to make our cups, lunch boxes, and soon we will be creating new household items.

Our cups are twin walled, keeping hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for hours. They're also free from melamine, BPA and silicone and are also non-toxic. They're very durable and can last a life time.

“At the Eden Project we like to work with like-minded businesses; those that care about the environment and that looks at ways of improving the way we live. Huski Home’s range of rice husk cups and lunch boxes have allowed us to showcase products that allow our customers to make sustainable choices and to help eliminate their reliance on single-use plastic.”

The Eden Project

Repurposing waste

Repurposing natural waste is at the forefront of our mission. By creating dish ware and cutlery from the shell of a coconut or the wood from a coconut tree that no longer bears fruit, we recycle a material that otherwise would go to landfill. These items are handmade, natural, biodegradable and non-toxic.

Huski Home has also developed a disposable straw that actually works.  They're made from 100% bulrush stems, meaning they are fully renewable, disposable and compostable.

They don't go mushy or soggy, are fully food-safe, gluten-free and non-toxic, and contain no preservatives or colourings.
